Founder's Story

Behind Every Vision Is a Story

My name is Portia Amiyuure, and I am the Founder and Executive Director of Kelsies Foundation. My journey has been shaped by a simple but powerful belief: every person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a better future.

Growing up, I came to understand that opportunities are not equally available to everyone. For many children and young people, especially girls and those from underserved communities, something as basic as access to education, resources, guidance, or support can determine the direction of their lives.

Kelsies Foundation was born from the conviction that meaningful change does not always begin with unlimited resources or waiting for the perfect moment. Sometimes, it begins with a decision—a decision to care, to act, and to use what you have to make a difference.

“I believe that real change begins when we choose to see the challenges around us not as someone else’s responsibility, but as an opportunity for us to act.”
